Why a short label matters
Most supermarket jerky contains sodium nitrite, sugar, dextrose, corn syrup or soy sauce (and therefore gluten). Each of those changes the taste and the nutrition. A three-ingredient recipe lets the meat taste like meat and keeps carbs under 1 g per bag.
What the seasoned varieties contain
American Style uses a blend of coriander, pepper, celery, cloves, mustard, cayenne, juniper, turmeric and garlic — all spices, no artificial additives or thickeners. Maxi, Paprika and Yammy Sticks are sticks made from 100% Romanian pork, cooked and then dried.
